Results from my open house

I did rather well on Thursday. I always enjoy seeing how people respond to my jewelry.  It is interesting.
It was fun just sitting around and chatting with a bunch of women. I don't get to do that very often.
Today a piano recital for my grandaughter. I am done with jewelry for awhile. I have 2 more custom orders to do then I am done til after the first of the year.

Thursday Open House

The open house that was postponed from Sunday is tonight. I think the weather will let it happen this time. I have made a few new pieces. The people that will be invited tonight are people that haven't really seen my jewelry except for on the person that is giving the open house. So all new contacts  there. I am excited. I am always excited to show my work. It makes it all worth while. Some pieces I have made and torn down and remade alot of times. I have a picture in my head how it should look. There have been times I will get a piece made late at night.  Then look at it the next morning and 1 bead will not match. I don't know how I do that but I do. Usually that 1 bead is close to the middle so almost the whole thing has to be restrung. But I enjoy doing this. Something about stringing beads makes me unwind. A very good thing.

An Open House today

I have another open house today. Hopefully the snow won't keep people away. I really like showing my jewelry, Selling a few in the process isn't bad either. I have a few new pieces and I will post them later if I still have them.

A letter

Dear Mom.
It is quite strange that I have been thinking about you for a few days now. I then looked at the calendar,  to discover that today is your birthday.
I just wanted you to know that I miss you. It is true that I wasn't around alot the last years. I had to follow my own path which took me away. You were always in the back of my mind helping me make decisions. Helping me take care of my children. I could hear you saying  things to me. That truely helped.
I have tried to keep a few of things we did together as traditions in my family. In my mind there is no better way to honor you than that.
I think my fondest memory is baking at christmas time. I loved it when you baked period. Sitting and chatting watching you knead the bread that we all knew would be baked soon and then served warm, with butter and jam on it. The smell was wonderful. I still get that picture in my head when I bake bread.
I still make your popcorn balls. It is the highlight of the christmas baking. I do it last and then everyone knows were are done for this year.
Whenever I go home during the summer , I will be outside and I can see us all riding, you the greatest yoddler ever would be yoddeling.I could never get that.
But I think the things I remember the most is the laughter.

Hot Coffee and Conversation

Tomorrow morning I will be one of those crazy shoppers out there at 3 in the morning looking to get a great deal. I am going with my 2 daughters. I really don't need to purchase any of these, so on sale items. I just really enjoy the coffee and the conversation after all the craziness is done. We usually stop somewhere sit down and get coffe and a donut or cake. We talk about our purchases and what happend with the crazy people around us. I  mostly just like to sit and listen to my girls chat with each other. It warms my heart.
Tomorrow afternoon new jewelry will be posted after I get in a good nap.

That Christmas Feeling

I started this blog for selling my jewelry. But as I go through and read other blogs(I have become addicted) I have decided to combine the two and write a little also. I am no great writer and I a have a hard time typing(should of paid more attention in typing class) but I am going to give it a try. We will just have to hang in there and see what happens. Hope you will be patient and hang in also.
So we have all given thanks and that is a good thing.

I spent all day yesterday trying to improve the picture quality of my jewelry. I hope this is better.

A wonderful day

I have to admit it. I love the cold weather, I love to look outside and see snow falling so hard you can't see across the street. I love to build a fire in my wood stove, so of course I love that smell of wood burning.

It was cold yesterday and I spent the day working on a few new pieces of jewelry for my open house I am having in December. I have also been Twilight inspired. I am not a big fan of red but it keeps drawing me back to make pieces that have red in them. So this is where the new red necklace came from.

Saturday Snow

It is snowing here today. Just alittle, but enough that my girly man dog doesn't want to go out. I don't know how he does it. The other 2 go out quite frequently. When it rains or snows he goes out twice. Once in the morning and once at night.He hates the water and the cold. Did I mention he is also afraid of the dark. So when we put him out at night we have to turn on the outside light. He is a German Shorthair Pointer and we rescued him from the pound, so maybe that has something to do with it. But he has been living here happy for 4 years.

Taking a moment today to organize my craft room. Who says you have to throw things away. Thank god for table clothes. I can hide all the stuff I told my husband I was throwing out.I am a big packrat. What you don't see is the boxes of material sitting buy my sewing machine. I haven't been sewing much lately. But can't bear to part with the material or the yarn I have. I know I will get time soon!
