A new year some new pieces

A very good friend of mine ordered a necklace set for her daughter. She is getting baptized. So I made 4 sets and these are the ones left.  Of course she chose the best one. The necklaces measure 14 inches. the bracelets measure 5 1/2 inches. If you are interested in these, please measure the arm before ordering it.

Results from my open house

I did rather well on Thursday. I always enjoy seeing how people respond to my jewelry.  It is interesting.
It was fun just sitting around and chatting with a bunch of women. I don't get to do that very often.
Today a piano recital for my grandaughter. I am done with jewelry for awhile. I have 2 more custom orders to do then I am done til after the first of the year.

Thursday Open House

The open house that was postponed from Sunday is tonight. I think the weather will let it happen this time. I have made a few new pieces. The people that will be invited tonight are people that haven't really seen my jewelry except for on the person that is giving the open house. So all new contacts  there. I am excited. I am always excited to show my work. It makes it all worth while. Some pieces I have made and torn down and remade alot of times. I have a picture in my head how it should look. There have been times I will get a piece made late at night.  Then look at it the next morning and 1 bead will not match. I don't know how I do that but I do. Usually that 1 bead is close to the middle so almost the whole thing has to be restrung. But I enjoy doing this. Something about stringing beads makes me unwind. A very good thing.
Hopeing for a good turn out tonight.

An Open House today

I have another open house today. Hopefully the snow won't keep people away. I really like showing my jewelry, Selling a few in the process isn't bad either. I have a few new pieces and I will post them later if I still have them.

A letter

Dear Mom.
It is quite strange that I have been thinking about you for a few days now. I then looked at the calendar,  to discover that today is your birthday.
I just wanted you to know that I miss you. It is true that I wasn't around alot the last years. I had to follow my own path which took me away. You were always in the back of my mind helping me make decisions. Helping me take care of my children. I could hear you saying  things to me. That truely helped.
I have tried to keep a few of things we did together as traditions in my family. In my mind there is no better way to honor you than that.
I think my fondest memory is baking at christmas time. I loved it when you baked period. Sitting and chatting watching you knead the bread that we all knew would be baked soon and then served warm, with butter and jam on it. The smell was wonderful. I still get that picture in my head when I bake bread.
I still make your popcorn balls. It is the highlight of the christmas baking. I do it last and then everyone knows were are done for this year.
Whenever I go home during the summer , I will be outside and I can see us all riding, you the greatest yoddler ever would be yoddeling.I could never get that.
But I think the things I remember the most is the laughter.
Thank You for the laughter.
